漆膜磨耗儀是由二個磨耗砂輪配置于轉盤上，當轉盤旋轉時，左側一個磨耗砂輪由外向樣板表面中心磨擦，而右側一個磨耗砂輪由樣板表面中心向外磨擦。當轉盤旋轉一周時，在樣板表面磨耗的痕跡是由互相重合，并呈X形相交的二園環(huán)組成。采用這種方式，其優(yōu)點是使樣板表面各個方向都受到磨擦，克服了一個方向往復運動的耐磨儀的缺點。
